Lacrosse is to the East Coast as football is to Texas.

Having grown up in Connecticut, I got to experience lacrosse at its finest, in an area where the sport has been played for hundreds of years.
We were a lacrosse family and in many ways always will be. The lax tradition is incredible and rewarding and the game has left me with some of my fondest memories from childhood.

My only regret is that I hadn’t started earlier and finished later.

When you have kids starting lacrosse by age six, it’s easy to figure how great they’ll be by the time they get to college. If you didn’t know, just about every program in the Men’s Top 20 NCAA poll was an East Coast team.

But things are changing. Lacrosse, the fastest growing sport in North America, is being played competitively everywhere. And that includes Colorado.

There’s a reason as to why lacrosse is the fastest growing sport around: It’s one of the best games around. The game combines so many athletic skills used in other sports. It unites the stick-handling and hitting of hockey, the playmaking of basketball, the speed of track and the teamwork of all sports.

And Colorado has plenty of it. From youth to the pros, you have great options to get involved. Grab a stick for yourself, your friends, your kids and I promise you won’t be able to put it down. Check out a Mammoth game (they’re undefeated so far!) and scream with the other wild fans. While it’s played a little different than the traditional form of the sport, the players, skills level and excitement are hardly rivaled.

Now in Colorado the youth game is really taking off. Camps and clinics are really popularizing the sport and the talent level continues to rise.

We are lucky to have organizations and programs out here dedicated to expanding the sport.

We at CLI of course want to do our part as well. So bringing you the latest in Colorado lacrosse news will be our goal.
